Gleaming the Cube

6 May 2004

Recently I’ve been brushing up on my skills as a skateboarder behind a local Italian Restaurant. It began in my friends basement when we found a beat up skateboard during a regular weekend gathering. This sparked our interest further so we ended up buying some generic boards from a local skate shop. They were black underneath and screaming for artwork.

Last weekend we bought some spray paint (hot pink is unbelievably hard to find) and mylar. I used the mylar to cut out a stencil that I had printed off and then we tapped that onto the bottom of the board and sprayed a few coats and presto.

Anyone know of a good health insurance plan?

hi Nathan, just found your site (and i couldn’t even tell you how…) anyway, if you’re starting to skate you should check out the new outdoor bowl and other goodies at the skate park (just off of grand on grant, behind the big stadium).my only advice is knee pads and a helmet, the kids don’t usually wear knee pads anymore, but it’s the best way to fall and avoid injury. btw: i skated for 13 years before breaking anything - major ankle break that required pins - i was 23!

Hey Ryan, thanks for the tip. I definitly need knee pads. They’ve gotten pretty banged up lately. When I build up enough confidence I’ll dive into the skate park. I went to a rock show a while back and watched others skate. It’s pretty cool we actually have something like that in Springfield.
